Blue Moon & Harvest Moon in Vectors

Still going through the Immersion 2022 training. Still trying to learn Adobe Illustrator. This time I wanted to figure out how to create a glow around the moon. I’m actually quite proud of these images. I like the colors of the harvest moon better, but I like the stars of the blue moon better. Luckily they are all vectors so recolors the stars and moving them to the harvest moon image won’t be a problem.

The trickiest part of doing something like with vectors and surface pattern design is that you have to limit the number of colors you use. A gradient could potentially have 100s of colors in order for it to gradually fade from one color to the next. But I might want to use this motif in a surface pattern design and some industries require you to limit your color palette to maybe 10 or so for the entire collection. I think I did a pretty good job figuring this out but my Illustrator skills are woefully inept right now. This took me hours and hours to complete.
